Discussion 5 Eating and Sleeping Disorders

Q For this DQ, you can choose either two eating disorders, or one eating disorder and one sleep disorder, or two sleep disorders that you are most interested in. 1) You will thoroughly describe (not list) and discuss all of the symptoms of both disorders. In other words, how would you thoroughly describe it to someone who has no idea what it is? 2) For each one, you need to also discuss research that your book or science-based websites talk about in relation to why these disorders might occur (causes). Try to put everything into your own words and always cite your source(s). This answer must be lengthy, as in more than three full paragraphs, which are a minimum of 10 lengthy sentences each. Be as thorough as possible for full credit. This section is worth 24 points. You will then comment on at least two other students' posts for 10 more points (5 each). Your other post comments can be answering another students' question or correcting a classmate's incorrect responses or sharing an experience that is relevant to the material and linking it to their post. Therefore, each post responding to your classmates should be a couple of paragraphs long. You may also choose to comment on 4 fellow student responses (one paragraph each).

Anorexia Nervosa is the most common eating disorder which is characterized by a state in which the individual refuses to keep a minimum amount of body weight, engages in self-starvation behavior, and is obsessed with gaining weight. People with this disorder reach an unusually low weight through a combination of diets, fasting, and excessive exercise (Durand & Barlow, 2019). These people, on the other hand, do not lose their appetites and are frequently hungry and preoccupied with eating. Even when they are hungry, they refuse to eat and appear to starve.
